Bama Nation Recruiting Central January 2010
« on: December 31, 2009, 07:05:41 AM »
                                                Bama Nation Recruiting Letter

The recruiting season is heating up at a rapid pace with little over a month until National Signing Day. I thought December would be a quiet month with school ending and the holidays. There have been so many rumors and excitement swirling around concerning Bama recruiting. Bama is expected to have only one big recruiting weekend in January. That date will be January 15th. That will be a huge weekend in Tuscaloosa. The “Most Wanted” file has some new faces on it. We should close the 2010 class with the people listed on it, unless some things quickly change between now and Signing Day. Will there be another “X” commit signing the dotted line in February?

December is normally a cool month mainly concerning weather. It was very hot in Bama recruiting. Saban was able to secure a verbal commitment from an emerging defensive end, Adrian Hubbard. We can get a sneak peak of his football skills at the Under Armour All-American game on January 2nd. Hubbard is a prototypical Jack Linebacker for the Saban defense. He will cause major havoc for opposing offenses. The Bama staff hit the road quickly after the SEC Championship game. They visited the homes of 2010 verbal commitments and a few prospects that would likely to fill the class. Saban and the staff have been recruiting hard for 2011. That class could end up comparing to the 2008 class which we know has been very special to Bama.

The magic wan is tinkering and the crystal ball is clearing up on Bama Recruiting. Devonta Bolton and Deion Belue may be the academic casualties in this class. Bolton will not graduate and enroll into Capstone in January. Saban has not accepted Juco players unless they enroll during January to participate in Spring Drills. It is highly likely that Bolton is a casualty. It has been said that Belue has a lot of work to do concerning qualifying for the Clearing House. Fortunately, he has time to catch up on some courses and re-take the ACT. Many think he will not make it.

On a positive note, the casualties are opening spots for more top talent to commit to the Bama Nation. The High School All-American games should catch the attention of recruiting junkies. We can see some of the most sought of recruits display their talents against great competition. The Offense-Defense All-American Bowl will be held in Myrtle Beach, SC on January 2nd.  Two Alabama verbal commits, Blake Sims and Austin Shepard, will be participating in this game. Blake is an athlete, and Austin is an offensive guard. The Under Armour game will be held on January 2nd, too. Six Bama commits will be taking the field to show the Bama Nation what is coming to Tuscaloosa. DeMarcus Milliner, Phillip Sims, Alfy Hill, Chad Lindsay, Brian Volger, and Adrian Hubbard will be the headliners in Tampa. Please pay close attention to some of the uncommitted. Chris Dunkley, William Gholston, James Stone, and John Fulton are still being recruited by Bama. Dunkley and Fulton are planning to make their announcements between Bama, Florida and South Carolina at the all-star game. If any chose Bama, they will have several future Bama players to celebrate with them. James Stone is expected to announce on Signing Day. Saban is trying to schedule an official visit with Gholston. Rumors have been running rampant that Gholston will de-commit from Michigan State and commit to Bama. Jonathon Hankins, Gholston’s teammate, has scheduled an official visit in January. Most sources expect Gholston to make the trip with him. Only time will tell. The US Army All-American Bowl will be held on January 9th. It will be well represented with Bama commits, Cade Foster, DeAndrew White, Jarrick Williams, Keenan Allen, as well. One of Bama’s more sought out recruits, C.J. Mosley, is expected to announce his college of choice during the game. Bama is recruiting Ahmad Dixon and Arie Kouandjio. They are participating in this game too. Arie is expected to visit the Capstone in January and will make his announcement on Signing Day. Saban is scheduling Dixon to visit in January as well. Dixon has given a soft verbal to Baylor. His family wants him to stay close to home. It has been said that Dixon is highly interested in playing big time football at Bama.

It’s going to be very interesting down the stretch. Bama wants to add a defensive tackle in this class. Hankins appear to be on the top of the wish list. Bama is considering LaCraig Brown out of Louisiana and Brandon Ivory in Memphis, TN. These are not the only guys Bama is recruiting. I would not be surprised to find out that Bama has caught the attention of a DT committed to another school. I will save this one until he makes a visit to Tuscaloosa. The Great Recruiting Whoodini is going to make a bold prediction. Ahmad Dixon and William Gholston will switch to Bama. John Fulton and C.J. Mosley will pick Bama at the All-Star games. James Stone and Arie Kouandjio will pick Bama on National Signing Day. Jonathon Hankins will be our massive DT for this class. Let’s win the BCS National Championship and the Recruiting title in the same year. I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and will have a Happy New Year, Roll Tide!!!

I hope Belue makes it too. Looks like the Tide commits are showing out in Under Armour practices. Look out for Adrian Hubbard to get moved up to 4-star on most recruiting services.

I don't think we will get Dunkley. He just added Florida State in the mix. If he doesn't pick Florida, he will pick Florida State. Looks like we will add a DT in this class afterall.

I would much rather lose him to Florida State than Florida.

Phillip Sims has a cannon of an arm and threw a nice TD pass in the Under Armour game. No one caught a pass on John Fulton or Demarcus Milliner so far in this game. The future is bright.
